Star Trek: Następne pokolenie (Star Trek: The Next Generation lub w skrócie TNG) – jest drugim w kolejności serialem telewizyjnym Star Trek. Jego akcja rozgrywa się w XXIV wieku. Serial został stworzony przez Gene'a Roddenberry'ego. Wyprodukowano go w Paramount Pictures, a pierwsza telewizyjna emisja trwała od września 1987 do maja 1994.

Star Trek: Następne pokolenie przenosi akcję o 75 lat do przodu względem czasów Kirka i Spocka. Serial prezentuje nową erę, w której Imperium Klingońskie jest sojusznikiem Federacji. Rolę głównych adwersarzy zajmują Romulanie, Kardasjanie i Borg, epizodycznie pojawia się też wiele innych ras.
Bazując na oryginalnym Star Treku, TNG opowiada historię eksploracji kosmosu, podążaniu tam, gdzie nie dotarł jeszcze żaden człowiek. Głównym wątkiem są przygody załogi statku kosmicznego - USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-D). Pomimo wielu podobieństw do oryginalnego serialu, publiczność początkowo krytykowała nową produkcję. Wraz z rozpoczęciem czwartego sezonu odcinkiem The Best of Both Worlds (II), TNG wprowadził większą dramaturgię, poważne problemy i więcej wątków dwuodcinkowych, które szybko zostały docenione przez widzów. Zdobyta popularność TNG utorowała drogę kolejnym trzem sezonom oraz przyczyniła się do powstania serialu Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Bazując na rosnącej fali popularności, po zakończeniu TNG, wytwórnia Parramount zdecydowała się rozpocząć produkcję kolejnego serialu - Star Trek: Voyager.
W Star Trek: Następne pokolenie, efekty specjalne zostały wykonane przy pomocy rzeczywistych modeli. Postęp techniki komputerowej pozwolił na ich dodatkową obróbkę i bardziej widowiskowe przedstawienie.
